Times tables

Tables from 2 to 9, learned in the right order: each table builds on the previous ones.

🗺️ ① The treasure map

Each island hides the secret of a times table. Discover it, practise by playing, then take the challenge to conquer the island. Islands open one after another.

🎯 ② Today's mission

The tables of your conquered islands come back a little every day, at just the right moment, so you never forget them.

Today's mission: a dozen questions, about 5 minutes.

Without child mode you can try it, but your progress is not saved.

🔢 ③ My treasure grid

🦸 ④ My superpower cards

One card for each conquered island.

  1. Step 1

    × 2: doubling

Multiplying by 2 means adding the number to itself.

    4 × 2 is double 4: 4 + 4 = 8.

  2. Step 2

    × 5: half of × 10

Work out × 10, then halve it. The answers always end in 0 or 5.

    4 × 10 = 40, and half of 40 is 20.

  3. Step 3

    × 4: double the double

    Double once, then double again.

    6 × 2 = 12, and double 12 is 24.

  4. Step 4

    × 3: × 2 plus one more

The double, plus the number itself.

    6 × 2 = 12, and 12 + 6 = 18.

  5. Step 5

    × 9: × 10 minus one

Work out × 10, then take the number away once. The two digits of the answer always add up to 9!

    6 × 10 = 60, and 60 − 6 = 54.

  6. Step 6

    × 6: × 5 plus one more

Start from × 5 and add the number once.

    7 × 5 = 35, and 35 + 7 = 42.

  7. Step 7

    × 8: double × 4

Work out × 4, then double: 3 doublings in a row.

    7 × 4 = 28, and double 28 is 56.

  8. Step 8

    × 7: × 5 plus × 2

The last table! Almost all its answers are already known from the other tables: only 7 × 7 is really left to learn.

    7 × 5 = 35, 7 × 2 = 14, and 35 + 14 = 49.
